Famous Split Pea with Ham Soup

- 2 lbs. Dried green split peas
- Ham bone from Easter ham, or ham hocks
- 1 Large chopped onion
- 2 Cloves minced garlic
- 2 Large carrots, diced
- 12 c. Water
- 2 Bay leaves
- Any leftover ham, sliced and chopped
- 2 Cubes chicken bullion
- Salt and pepper to taste

Directions
In a large stock pot, combine all ingredients except
diced ham. Bring to a boil. Cover and simmer over low
heat for approximately 1 hour until peas are tender.
Remove ham bone/hocks and 5 minutes before serving,
add chopped ham.
Serves 12-18 servings. |
